Galp is a group of Portuguese companies in the energy sector. It owns Petrogal and Gás de Portugal, with activities ranging from exploration and production of oil and natural gas, to refining and distribution of oil products, distribution and sale of natural gas and power generation. It is currently among the largest companies in Portugal, controlling about 50% of the fuel trade and all of Portugal’s refining capacity.

Challenge

Proof of Concept to validate hypothesis of new technological architecture and new software development approach for Galp’s systems, using a low-code tool that should serve as a basis for the design of a functional prototype of a digital product at the strategic level.

Use case

MVP with the use of agile techniques, methodologies, and practices such as Design Thinking, Lean Kanban, BDD and Gherkin, 3C, Invest, and SMART criteria, among others; as well as cloud and CI/CD resources, including infrastructure as code (IAC).

Achievements

The construction of the target application proved to exceed expectations in terms of the proposed features and architecture, as well as in terms of the experience provided and the agility of the development process.
Compliance with software development best practices to ensure that strategic objectives and constraints at the organizational level were met for each type of business user, reducing SDLC and waste.
